If you are in a difficult situation, a low mood, if you are afraid of other people and of yourself, if you are tormented, then tell yourself: “I will love everyone whom I meet in this life.” Try to follow this rule; and you will see that everything will find its way, and everything will seem simple, and you will no longer have doubts or fears.
If you see ten troubles coming down the road, you can be sure that nine will run into the ditch before they reach you.
No man ever sunk under the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow’s burden is added to the burden of day that the weight is more than a man can bear. Never load yourself so. If you find yourself so loaded, at least remember this: it is your own doing, not God’s. He begs you to leave the future to Him and mind the present.
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.
If a care is too small to be turned into a prayer it is too small to be made into a burden.
Corrie ten Boom
Beware of despairing about yourself; you are commanded to put your trust in God, and not in yourself.
Augustine of Hippo
It helps to write down half a dozen things which are worrying me. Two of them, say, disappear; about two nothing can be done, so it’s no use worrying; and two perhaps can be settled.
Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.
Henry Ward Beecher
Forgiveness is a stunning principle, your ticket out of hate and fear and chaos.
When considering the size of your problems, there are two categories that you should never worry about: the problems that are small enough for you to handle, and the ones that aren’t too big for God to handle.
Marie T. Freeman
All our fret and worry is caused by calculating without God.
If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed.
If you look within, you’ll be depressed.
But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest.
Corrie Ten Boom
Care for the next minute is just as foolish as care for the morrow, or for a day in the next thousand years- in neither can we do anything, in both God is doing everything.
Earthly fears are no fears at all. Answer the big question of eternity, and the little questions of life fall into perspective.
It has come to pass that man’s knowledge has surpassed his wisdom. He is afraid of what he knows.
Guy D. Newman
You can tell the size of your God by looking at the size of your worry list. The longer your list, the smaller your God.
We are often hindered from giving up our treasures to the Lord out of fear for their safety; this is especially true when those treasures are loved relatives and friends. But we need have no such fears. Our Lord came not to destroy but to save. Everything is safe which we commit to Him, and nothing is really safe which is not so committed.
A. W. Tozer
To fear and not be afraid- that is the paradox of faith.
A. W. Tozer
Fear. His modus operandi is to manipulate you with the mysterious, to taunt you with the unknown. Fear of death, fear of failure, fear of God, fear of tomorrow- his arsenal is vast. His goal? To create cowardly, joyless Christians. He doesn’t want you to make that journey to the mountain. He figures if he can rattle you enough, you will take your eyes off the peaks and settle for a dull existence in the flat lands.
Don’t worry about tomorrow. God is already there.
The remarkable thing about fearing God is that when you fear God you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God you fear everything else.
One is given strength to bear what happens to one, but not the 100 and 1 different things that might happen.
C. S. Lewis
Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. It does not enable us to escape evil. It makes us unfit to face evil when it comes. It is the interest you pay on trouble before it comes. Corrie ten Boom
I try not to worry about life too much because I read the last page of THE book and it all turns out all right.
“Come to the edge!” God said. “It’s dangerous there,” I answer. “Come to the edge!” God said. “But I might fall!” “Come to the edge!” God said. So I did. And He pushed me! And I flew!
The way to worry about nothing is to pray about everything.
Never dwell on the tomorrow; remember, that it’s God’s and not ours. E. B. Pusey
Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something.
Have you ever learned the beautiful art of letting God take care of you and giving all your thought and strength to pray for others and for the kingdom of God? It will relieve you of a thousand cares.
A. B. Simpson
He that takes his cares on himself loads himself in vain with an uneasy burden. I will cast my cares on God; he has bidden me; they cannot burden him.
