Update on people who have been touched by The Ranch, a “real” ranch, and a new Piano Book for the music from “Clear My Mind.”
Where Are They Now?
You may remember a woman I wrote about last year who gave her life to the Lord in the chat room at The Ranch while talking to another believer.
I thought you’d be interested to hear what’s happened to her in the past year.She wrote to me this week and said:
“Hi, it’s been awhile since I have written. I was going through some very rough times… I laid out all of my problems to [the woman in the chat room] and to God. During these past 25 years I did not attend church, nor had any interest. It’s now been just over a year and I am overjoyed and crying as I type this.
“To bring you up to date. I now attend church on a regular basis since November. I attend Church on Sundays, along with Sunday school. I also attend Wednesday night. Just these past 10 weeks, I have been working with the Vacation Bible School, and enjoying every bit of it. The Pastor of our church now sets time aside for our family one time a week, and does private bible lessons with my daughter who is 12. It’s great worshiping the Lord. …
“I still cry in church, but it’s a different type of cry now. It’s a cry for the answered prayers, and the faith that the Lord has for us. My life, and my older daughter’s life has changed. Changed for the good. All of the music my daughter and I listen to now is Christian. It’s been so encouraging and uplifting. I would be overjoyed to chat with [the woman in the chat room] again, and thank her, and her husband for all that they did for me.”
You may also remember a Muslim woman from Egypt who wrote to say she learned so much about God’s love and forgiveness after coming to the site. We’ve corresponded frequently since then, and she has been studying the Bible to compare it to the Koran.
Just this week, a good friend of mine met her in Egypt as he was speaking at a nearby church. She wasn’t sure if she should go to the church since they might not accept a Muslim woman. But after an email, prayer and a personal invitation from my friend, she went. She wrote this week and said:
“I concentrated on his words …He talked about John’s book: the lady sinner who met Jesus at the water well. He emphasized how he spent more time with her trying to teach her right things, talking to her decently notwithstanding her bad reputation or that she was an outcast by her society – that woman changed to goodness. The conclusion I’ve reached is that GOD is so forgiving. We shouldn’t give up any chance to approach him no matter how huge our sins are. He’s so caring and loving for us more than anybody on earth.”
Amen! He loves us so much that He’s willing to go to the ends of the earth to have a personal relationship with each one of us. And sometimes that relationship starts with a seed on the Internet!
These are just two examples of people who have been sparked to faith through our “virtual” ranch, but that faith is now having a very real impact on their everyday lives. Please continue to pray that our seeds would fall on good soil as Jesus said:
“Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop– a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown” (Matthew 3:18).
Closer to home, I’m glad to tell you that we’re expecting! Lana’s just past her first trimester and we expect the baby will be born near the end of February. Lana and the baby are doing great, except for some inflammation of the veins in her legs that the doctor is treating. We’d appreciate your prayers for both baby and Mama!
A “Real” Ranch
You may also remember that we have been praying for some time about developing a “real” ranch for people to visit and be encouraged in their faith. Several people have written to us saying they want to come to The Ranch, not realizing that it’s just a website at this point. We know the interest is there and we’re interested in building one!
I’ve written a proposal that outlines what it would take to make this a reality. If you’d like to take a look at the proposal to get a feel for what we’re wanting to do, read The Ranch Building Proposal.
We’d be interested in your feedback and prayers for this project.
Several people have asked if I have sheet music for some of the music they’ve heard on The Ranch. So I’ve recently finished a 62-page book featuring the full piano score from all twelve songs on the CD “Clear My Mind”.
For me, playing music can be just as refreshing as listening to music. If you play the piano, or know someone who does, you might want to get a copy of this book. A high schooler from Albuquerque, New Mexico got a copy a few weeks ago and wrote:
“Clear My Mind is probably my favorite song in the book so far. It just is such a great way to…clear your mind! I’ve memorized it, and I just like to sit there repeating it, with my eyes closed. It is such a great song, and it is so relaxing, and really clears your mind.”
The sheet music is written at an easy/intermediate level and contains the actual versions of the songs used on the CD. You can request a copy of the book from The Ranch Giftshop.
For men, you may be interested to know that you can watch some of the Promise Keeper events live over the Internet. I was brought to my knees in prayer one Saturday morning in front of my computer as I watched Bruce Wilkinson speak live from Promise Keepers in Florida. There are three more live broadcasts this year:
- September 6-7, from St. Paul,
- September 27-28, from Los Angeles,
- and October 18-19, from Anaheim (for youth).
To watch the live events, visit: promisekeepers.org.
For women, you may be interested in a new online Bible Study by popular author Beth Moore. This 10-week study, “Believing God,” will be taught on the Internet starting September 26. Register at: believinggod.com.
Please Pray With Us
Thank you Lord,
- for helping us plant seeds of faith on the Internet and letting us watch them grow;
- for the new life growing inside Lana and for keeping her and the baby healthy;
- and for the vision to reach even more people for You.
And Lord, we now ask:
- for You to pour Your Living Water on the seeds that we’ve planted so they will grow strong;
- for continued good health for Lana and the baby throughout this pregnancy;
- and for more people to find their way to The Ranch so they can find their way to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you for your prayers! They WILL make a difference!
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:22)
